Davey Dogwood Park

There are many different types and species of dogwoods, but the kind that grows native in Palestine is the white Cornus Florida, which grows all along the East Coast, part of the Gulf of Mexico and in North East Texas. Palestine and the surrounding area has one of the highest concentration of Cornus Florida dogwoods in Texas.

Potties in the Park

Potties in the Park is a fundraiser by the Cars of Palestine Club to build permanent restroom facilities in Davey Dogwood Park. Currently, there are no restroom facilities or running water. The Club has been raising funds since October of 2011 and hope to break ground soon.

The 25x28 building would include a men’s side and a women’s side. The facility would be built out of masonry blocks with a concrete slab and will be American Disability Act approved.

Potties in the Park is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible. Mail your donations to:

The land that is now Davey Dogwood Park was purchased in 1944 by M.A. Davey, Sr., a Palestine oil man. He deeded the tract of land to Anderson County to be used as a park to show case the natural beauty of Palestine, Texas.

The park is 254 acres with over five and one-half miles of hard-surfaced roads and unincorporated hiking trails to take your exploration off-road.

The park is especially beautiful in Spring with dogwood blooms mixed with the blooms of other native area blooming trees and wild flowers. Also, be sure to stop by Davey Dogwood Park during the fall to see the dogwood trees turn rich autumn colors.
